CITB TRAINING COURSES

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) is the most widely recognised awarding body for construction training in the UK. They are a partner in the Sector Skills Council and aim to provide constructions workers with the right skills to develop a rewarding career in the industry.

CITB have developed a range of training courses, some of which span work in all construction sectors and some of which are more industry specific. We have teamed up with our partner provider WJB Training to offer the full range of CITB Site Safety Plus courses. Full details on all of these courses can be found further down this page along which upcoming course dates.

CITB TRAINING COURSES

Introduction

Construction sites are one of the most high-risk areas of work with almost all of the most hazardous activities being carried out there, often in a short amount of time and space. It’s important that workers of all levels understand the importance of working safely in these areas to protect themselves and others.

Objective

The course will introduce the learner to the hazards and risks found in a construction based workplace and best practices used to reduce that risk as much as possible in their day to day roles.

Intended audience

The qualification is for those who have just entered about to enter construction based workplaces.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the training and have a good understanding of the English language.

Qualification

CITB Health and Safety Awarness

Introduction

Construction sites are one of the most high-risk areas of work with almost all of the most hazardous activities being carried out there, often in a short amount of time and space. Therefore it’s absolutely critical that those with the responsibility of managing these areas have a solid understanding of how to do so safely.

Objective

The course will guide the learner through the legal requirements related to construction based workplaces and discuss how their role as a Supervisor contributes to the overall safety on site.

Intended audience

The qualification is for anybody who is responsible for supervising others or an area on a construction site.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the training and have a good understanding of the English language.

Learning outcomes

  • The Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Specific site issues that challenge supervisors on a daily basis
  • Effective toolbox talks
  • Supervision of occupational health
  • Behavioural safety

Qualification

CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)

Introduction

Construction sites are one of the most high-risk areas of work with almost all of the most hazardous activities being carried out there, often in a short amount of time and space. Therefore it’s absolutely critical that those with the responsibility of managing these areas have a solid understanding of how to do so safely.

Objective

The course will guide the learner through the legal requirements related to construction based workplaces and discuss best practices in order to best manage the area, equipment and people safely.

Intended audience

The qualification is for anybody who has responsibility for health and safety in a construction based workplace, this can include Foremen, Supervisors, Site Managers, Project Managers etc.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the training and have a good understanding of the English language.

Learning outcomes

  • The Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations
  • Risk assessments/method statements
  • Recent changes in accepted working practices
  • Behavioural safety
  • Management of occupational health
  • Electricity
  • Working at height
  • Excavations
  • Scaffolding
  • Demolition
  • Confined spaces

Qualification

CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

Introduction

Construction sites are one of the most high-risk areas of work with almost all of the most hazardous activities being carried out there, often in a short amount of time and space. Therefore it’s absolutely critical that those with the responsibility of managing these areas have a solid understanding of how to do so safely.

Objective

The course will guide the learner through the legal requirements related to construction based workplaces and discuss best practices in order to best manage the area, equipment and people safely.

Intended audience

The qualification is for anybody who currently has the qualification and is approaching their five-year renewal requirement.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the training and have a good understanding of the English language. You must currently hold a CITB SMSTS qualification.
