OUR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING COURSES

Introduction

Roughly a third of work related injuries are from manual handling based activities. Carrying out such activities incorrectly severely increases the risk of physical injury, lost days and reduced productivity.

Objective

The course will enable the learner with the knowledge to safely carry out manual handling activities. Through theory and practical training the delegate will display sound lifting techniques and understanding of the risks.

Intended audience

This qualification is for anybody who performs manual handling as part of their job.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

  • Understanding the reasons for safe manual handling
  • Lifting techniques
  • Understanding how risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety
  • Types of equipment and testing requirements

Qualification

Manual Handling

Introduction

Fire prevention and procedures in a case of a fire emergency is a key topic for improving health and safety in the workplace. Suitable training plays an important role in the safety management system and contributes hugely to the effectiveness of fire safety plans and emergencies.

Objective

This course will increase the basic fire safety awareness of all learners. It will assist in preventing fire emergencies and assists employers meet their legal duty to train all their staff in fire safety.

Intended audience

This qualification should ideally be delivered to all employees in an organisation.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand basic fire safety and what to do in the event of an emergency
  • Understand the principles of fire risk control
  • Understand the basics of practical fire safety

Qualification

Fire Safety Awareness (Level 1)

Introduction

Objective

This  course will increase the learner’s knowledge of fire safety to include fire safety management at work and the specific roles and responsibilities related to fire safety in the workplace.

Intended audience

This qualification is for anyone who has a specific responsibility for fire safety in the workplace. It is suitable to:
• Qualify fire wardens/fire marshals
• Provide a foundation of fire safety knowledge on which employers and ‘responsible persons’ can build
• Increase the fire safety knowledge of all employees

  • Understand the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace
  • Understand how fire risk is controlled in the workplace
  • Understand the principles and practice of fire safety management at work
  • Understand the role of the nominated fire warden
