FIRST AID TRAINING COURSES

We are fully accredited to deliver Qualsafe First Aid courses in Liverpool.

We run 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work courses and 3 day First Aid at Work courses in Liverpool every other month.

OUR FIRST AID TRAINING COURSES

Introduction

The difference between life and death in an emergency situation can come down to the effective administration of first aid. By providing immediate attention to a casualty until a medical professional arrives the future health of the casualty is increased multiple times.

Objective

The course will enable the learner with the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations and/or take on the role of emergency first aider in the workplace.

Intended audience

This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic first aid to people in a range of emergency first aid situations.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Be able to assess an incident
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  • Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock
  • Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury

Qualification

QA Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

The course will enable the learner with the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a wider range of first aid situations than the Emergency First Aid at Work course and also take on the role of first aider in the workplace.

Intended audience

This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic first aid to people in a range of emergency first aid situations.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Learning outcomes

This qualification includes all of the learning outcomes covered in the Emergency First Aid at Work course plus the below outcomes.

  • Be able to conduct a secondary survey
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
  • Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness

Qualification

QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work

Introduction

Access to a defibrillator machine is critical to the safety of a suspected heart attack casualty and so is the training on the correct use of CPR and defibrillator machines.

Objective

The course will enable the learner with the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a first aid situation involving CPR and/or a defibrillator machine. It will also familiarise the learner with their own machine and emergency procedures so they can react more effectively in an emergency situation.

Intended audience

This qualification is for people who have a specific interest or a responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to be able to provide CPR when dealing with an emergency which may involve using an AED.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Learning outcomes

This qualification includes all of the learning outcomes covered in the Emergency First Aid at Work course plus the below outcomes.

  • Understand basic life support requirements
  • Be able to demonstrate basic life support techniques and automated external defibrillator use in line with current national guidelines
  • Be able to demonstrate post-resuscitation
  • Be able to carry out basic user maintenance and troubleshoot problems with an automated external
  • Understand the safe use of an automated external defibrillator

Qualification

QA Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation

Introduction

The difference between life and death in an emergency situation can come down to the effective administration of first aid. This is even more important when dealing with those of a young age.

Objective

The course will enable the learner with the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a wide range of first aid situations when looking after children.

Intended audience

This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to children (including babies). This includes dealing with an emergency situation, chronic or sudden paediatric illness or paediatric injury

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Learning outcomes

This qualification includes all of the learning outcomes covered in the Emergency First Aid at Work course plus the below outcomes.

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider
  • Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
  • Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
  • Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing
  • Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking
  • Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding
  • Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock
  • Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries
  • Be able to administer first aid to an infant and a child with a suspected fracture
  • Be able to administer first aid to an infant and a child with head, neck or back injury
  • Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose
  • Understand how to administer emergency first aid to an infant and a child with an acute medical condition or sudden illness
  • Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold
  • Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has sustained an electric shock
  • Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with burns or scalds
  • Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who has been poisoned
  • Understand how to provide first aid to an infant or child with anaphylaxis
